Kate Broderick

Kate Evon Broderick enjoyed three successful work chapters in her life thru nursing, teaching
and higher education administration, but believes her true passion is now expressed by writing
children’s books, primarily from the viewpoint of a grandparent. She admits her interest in
children’s literature began as a student at St. Bonaventure University.
As a mother of three sons and a grandparent to four boys and three girls, she has had a front
row seat into their lives. She jokes she has attended more soccer games, musical performances
and science fairs than anyone she knows.
Kate was a superb elementary school teacher in both New York and Virginia and was highly-
respected for her ability to make writing and reading fun for her fourth and fifth grade
students. She later started a career at a Virginia university where she became a devoted
advocate for students with disabilities.
In her free time, she can be found in Maine and Florida kayaking, hiking and cooking for her
family and friends.
She and her husband have been married for more than four decades.
